History

Shin is the second child of a Half-Veela Witch and a Muggle, who happens to be a member of the House of Commons as a member of the Labour party. As an incumbent, and as the Constituency usually gives a strong backing to the Labour party, he's still expected to be re-elected as an MP for years to come. How this Half-Veela Witch and this high-profile politician ever came to meet and marry, the world might never know~

Shin has an older brother named Rei, and a younger sister named Natsumi. Rei didn't go to Hogwarts despite the fact that he indeed had magic, but it was at the behest of his father, who thought that it was unreasonable to go to a nonsensical magic school to learn "magic tricks" that would "lead him to nowhere, fast." Rei is still attending college, earning his degree in Political Science, apparently to follow in their father's footsteps.

Shin knew that he could never get along with his father, especially after the incident in his last year of school when he was involved in a major fight that included one of the school teachers who was badly injured by Shin himself ~~through some odd stroke of luck, actually~~. Shin didn't care about the repercussions of this event, because he thought that the teacher had it coming for picking out students and blaming them for all the bad things that happened around the school when it wasn't their fault. When his father attempted to use his resources to cover up the incident in order to save his own image, Shin decided that if he ever got his letter to Hogwarts, he'd go to that school no matter what. When received the letter on his 11th birthday, he immediately started packing. His father was completely against it, though his wife dissuaded him from doing harm to the boy.

So, Shin's been at Hogwarts mainly to go against his father's wishes, but also because he felt a need to get away from his father and all his rules and regulations in order to have his own identity. Besides, the world of magic had interested him since his mother was always telling him about her experiences at school, the different houses that there were, and what he could expect if he ever decided to go to Hogwarts.

After entering Hogwarts, he simply just dug in, immersing himself in the culture and lifestyle of the wizarding world, and soaking up anything and everything that was required of him in his classes. Though, he was told by his mother that he should be wary about telling anyone that he had Veela ancestry, considering the political climate of the time. Since he is 1/4 Veela, he would still be considered a half-breed because Veela aren't really human, though they have been known to marry humans. 'Tis the reason why he has to keep it quiet, though he might trust a few people to know about it when he feels comfortable enough.

Even if he immersed himself in the wizarding world and its rather unique culture, that didn't mean that he'd essentially tear himself away from all things muggle either. During the summer, he'd enjoy his days out and about, hanging out with his grade-school friends, catching up with each other... going around London, hanging out in Hyde park, watching the changing of the guard at Buckingham palace, or playing video games over at his friends' homes. At night, though, he'd lock himself up after dinner to study as much as he could before the new school year started.

After the end of his 5th year, he left home to go visit Alfred over in Paris, and they had a rather interesting time while he was there. After coming back, he buckled down and took on an internship over at St. Mungo's, and was able to shadow Dr. House and Dr. Pierce and join in on their cases. One case, taken with Dr. House in the clinic area, got him thinking about Human intelligence, or lack thereof. But it was also during this time that he decided what his future profession should be.

Now, he's back in school, back as a prefect in his 6th year, and doing quite well in his classes. Though the one thing that struck him as weird is the fact that for parents day, his mom dropped by, and several male professors seemed to take a shining to her, and ~~quite obviously~~ hit on her, even though she still had a wedding ring on her hand. Needless to say, Shin was weirded out, but he knows what probably led to that.

Relationships

Friends:

Alfred F. Jones [6-G]:
He's been Shin's roomie since they both got into Hogwarts. Since Al had an interest in muggle things, Shin took it upon himself to teach the pureblood everything he could about normal everyday things, and muggle technology -- especially video games. During the summer between 4th and 5th year, Shin invited Al over for a two-weeks stay, though something happened that Al decided to cut things short and go back home. He's been curious about that for a while~

He's another one of Shin's roomies. They've known each other for years.

Rosette Christopher [6-G]:
He's known her ever since they got into Hogwarts together, and they've come to be friends somewhere along the line despite their very different personalities. Now that she's ditching the orphanage, he's offered his place, and she's accepted to go there.

Jomy Marcus Shin [6-G]:
He's Shin's roommate, and has known him for quite some time. It's only been until recently that he's gotten to be a bit more closer to the young man that he actually admires for the way that he... well... is. He's nice to a fault, and Shin really respects that.

Rikku [7-H]:
A really cheery sort of girl around whom one really can't help but smile. He respects her, now more due to the fact that she managed to crash the pureblood party that happened a while back. Still, they're on good enough terms with each other, and they're even movie buddies now during the summer!

Kisa Sohma [1-H]:
She's a quiet, sweet young girl whom Shin couldn't help but feel an instant older-brother instinct to want to help her when she got hurt after she practiced flying. She still manages to make him feel like she's his little sister, even if they're not, and feels somewhat protective of her because of that. If he were the type to show his affection physically, he might be tempted to hug her every single time he sees her, though he's a little reserved on that aspect.

Neutral:
Fin Fish [6S]:
They... got off on the wrong foot. They somehow came to talking with each other, and the topic turned to relationships, planning/time management, and other topics. Among all that, Shin became more curious about her because she said that she didn't want any relationship whatsoever. After a bit more talking and going on based on his hunches, it all boiled down to him earning a rather hard slap on his left cheek. He can't hate her, because he knows he's the one at fault, and at least Fin went ahead and got an ice pack for his cheek. As of right now, he feels bad for what he did, and will try to make it up to her in any way he can. So it's safe to say that he's learned his lesson, and that Fin left a rather strong impression on him.

Raimei Shimizu [5-G]
A girl in his year whom he's known for a while, though probably not as well until recently. While they're probably not as close enough friends as he'd like, they did share some anecdotes with each other about things in their past that they haven't told many other people. Again, though not close friends, he still cares enough for her to be concerned when she shows up with an unexpected bruise and gently prod her towards the Hospital Wing.

Dr. Gregory House:
Technically, while he doesn't feel quite neutral about House, he's not all too chummy with him either at this point, though Shin's noticed that his personality is somewhat like House's in a couple of ways. He greatly respects him as a professor since he's studied for some time under him, but now he respects him even more so after spending some time shadowing him around St. Mungo's as an intern. He's seen his bedside manner, and he's seen him do his work with the more difficult cases, and despite acting the way he does, he's actually made Shin make up his mind about his chosen profession. He... wouldn't actually mind working under House after his graduation [or in another summer internship, really] as long as he got to learn whatever he can from him.
